Sarpanch of Jaitusar Gram Panchayat of Sikar was arrested on Friday by the anti-corruption bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe from a complainant.
The accused Sarpanch Shravan Kumar had demanded the bribe of Rs 2.10 lakh as a commission in lieu of the payment of the outstanding bills of the construction work done by the complainant’s firm and returning the security money, Director General of the Bureau Bhagwan Lal Soni said in a statement. After verification of the complaint, the team on Friday arrested the accused red-handed while taking a bribe from the complainant, he said.
A search is going on at the residence and other places of the accused as well.
A case is being registered against the accused under the prevention of corruption act and an investigation into the matter is on, he added.
