Rajpal Yadav Ata Pata Laapata: Actor Rajpal Yadav has been given interim bail by the Delhi High Court until March 18 in a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. He had surrendered before the court on February 5. The legal matter goes back many years.
In 2010, Rajpal had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore to make his film Ata Pata Laapata, which he directed himself. Sadly, the film did not do well at the box office. Because of the losses, money problems started and later turned into a legal fight.
The case involves businessman Madhav Gopal. Rajpal says he has been wrongly blamed in this matter. According to him, this is not about cheating or not repaying money. He believes the issue happened because of what he called the businessman’s ‘bad intentions.’

Rajpal Wants Public to see the Film’s Effort
After getting bail, Rajpal held a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday. He spoke openly about the film and the money that went into making it. He said he has still not sold the satellite rights of Ata Pata Laapata. He also said he is not sure if he will sell the film to any OTT platform in the future.
He shared that he is now planning to release short clips from the film. He said, “Now that people know about it, I am getting 2-minute-long clips cut. The shooting went on for 76 days, and you will see how much money went behind it. We didn’t bring 2500 people through CGI; they were real artistes who shot at Film City. I just want everyone to see if the money was spent on the film or not.”
Rajpal explained that the movie was made with real actors and real sets. He said 2500 people were part of the shoot and they were not computer generated. Everything was done properly and with real effort.
Actor Says Entire Investment was at Risk
Rajpal revealed that he spent around Rs 20 to 22 crore on making the film. He even mortgaged his land and took a bank loan to complete the project. He said that because of the Rs 5 crore dispute, his full investment of Rs 20 to 22 crore got stuck.

He also said that even if the businessman was unhappy, he should have allowed the film to release. But Rajpal claimed the film was stopped because of ‘bad intentions.’ Around 200 artistes were connected to the project and their work was also affected.
When reporters asked why he did not ask for help from people in the film industry earlier, Rajpal gave a simple answer. He said he sees himself as a ‘self-sufficient man.’ He shared that his village Shahjahanpur gives him enough to live peacefully for life. He said he always wanted to stand on his own feet.
Rajpal also said that the film industry has supported him for the past 25 years. He feels grateful for that support. He said if the industry had not given him work and awards, things could have been very different. Calling the industry his family, he said he has been part of it for 25 to 30 years and hopes to stay connected for ‘another 500 years.’
