Ramadan Timings 2020: Sehri and Iftar timetable for Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur

This year Ramadan or Ramzan will be different from that in past years. It will be a different experience for all the Muslims around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The festival is the inclusion of Taraweeh prayers at the mosque or anywhere outside homes, spiritual talks in the community and iftars (breaking of the fast) with friends and family to attend.

Sehri is a Parsi word that refers to the meal practicing Muslims have at Dawn before their Roza(fast) for the day begins (fasting) is called Sohuru in Arabic and these days Sohuru instead of Sehri.

Significance Of Ramazan:

Ramzan or Ramadan falls on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and holds a great significance for the Muslim community across the globe. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims observe fast marking it as a gesture to revere the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief.

All those who are fasting during the daytime and are allowed to eat only after sunset. However, there are certain parameters and some are given the relaxation of not keeping the fast the entire day. People who suffer from any illness, or those who are travelling, elderly people, pregnant women and those going through their menstrual cycle are barred from keeping a fast.

Difference between Ramadan and Ramzan:

Both Ramadan and Ramazan are right. Ramadan is the Arabic or Wahabi word that describes the holy month while Ramzan, which is used more in India, means the same thing but is a Parsian word that traces it’s heritage back to Persia (present day Iran).

Indian Cities like Lucknow, Hyderabad, Muzzaffarnagar, Aligarh and others, is heavily influenced from the Persian culture, the use of the words Ramzan is heard more.
