Thousands attend Saint Dev Prabhakar Shastri ‘Dadda Ji’ funeral amid lockdown in MP

Reportedly, the 82 years old Saint was not keeping well for the last few days and had a minor paralysis attack. Following which he was taken to Delhi for treatment.

Saint Devprabhkar Shashtri 'Daddaji' died, thousands attended his last journey

Katni: Household saint Devprabhakar Shastri breathed his last at 8:27 PM in his ashram on Sunday. He was known as ‘Daddaji’ among his followers including famous politicians and filmstars. Thousands of people took part in his final journey on Monday which commenced from Dadda ashram in Katni.  Actor Ashutosh Rana and MLA Sanjay Pathak acted as the pallbearers of the famous saint and spiritual leader. His funeral took place in Daddadham on the outskirts of the city.

Thousands of people reportedly gathered at the funeral of a spiritual leader in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni earlier this week, blatantly violating social distancing norms during the lockdown. The attendees also included political leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress and celebrities like Ashutosh Rana

The crowd violated all norms of social distancing.

Reportedly, the 82 years old Saint was not keeping well for the last few days and had a minor paralysis attack. Following which he was taken to Delhi for treatment. After his condition started worsening, he was brought back to Katni via Jabalpur through an air ambulance by his followers.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan mourned his death and talked about giving him state honours on his funeral. While former Chief Minister Kamal nath said, “Daddaji’s demise is an irreparable loss.” National general secretary of BJP Kailash Vijayvargiya and Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s wife Sadhana Singh reached Katni to pay respect to the departed soul.

Actor Ashutosh Rana, Rajpal Yadav are among his devout followers. The former mourned Daddaji’s death and said, “My Holiness Gurudev ‘Daddaji’ has become enlightened today .. If I consider myself a part of the universe, then behind this belief, my revered Guruvar is the one who introduced me to the universe within me. I belong to him, I belong to him. May the worship continue.”
