In the two-day visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Pakistan which was mostly in the headlines for the signing of deals between the two countries to the tunes of $20 billion, there was surprise waiting for Crown Prince during his visit.

Prince was not only given a 21-gun salute, conferred with highest civilian award of Pakistan, Nishan-e-Pakistan, a delegation of Pakistani senators presented him with a gold-plated gun.

The sub-machine gun gifted to Prince by Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani is a product developed by German engineers and goes by the name The Heckler & Koch MP5. Modifications, such as incorporation of an elaborate pattern on its gold plate components were also added.

“Pakistan is a dear country to the Saudi people and we will be partners as we have always been,” Al Arabiya quoted the Saudi Crown Prince as saying.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are working together to expand economic partnership, particularly in the tourism sector, he had added.

Saudi Arabia on Wednesday ordered release of 850 Indian prisoners lodged in its jails. He said Prince Mohammed has also announced an increase in the quota for Indian Haj pilgrims to 2 lakh at the request of Prime Minister Modi. The present quota is about 1.75 lakh.

During his visit to Pakistan two days back, Prince Mohammed had agreed to release over 2,000 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi jails.
