A young Saudi woman was arrested after scandalizing the country by posting a video of herself in a miniskirt and crop top walking around at a public. The video triggered outrage while some rushed in her defence.

BBC reports that the woman, identified as a model called ‘Khulood’, had shared the clip of her walking around the historic fort in Ushayqir. Now, the woman has been arrested by Riyadh police. The officials are mulling about the possible course of action against the woman. She has allegedly violated the dress rules of the Islamic nation.

According to Associated Press, women in the country are needed to wear long, loose robes known as “abayas” in public. They must cover their hair and face with a black veil. The nation makes some exceptions for foreign dignitaries.

The viral video was first shared on Snapchat. Here’s the video of the Saudi woman:

The video left Saudis divided. While some say people must respect the laws of the country, others defended the woman with posting images from President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia in May. First Lady Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka had shunned wearing a head cover or the abaya. However, authorities have asked the police to take action against the model for posting the video.
