South Korea has proposed to redesign the New Delhi railway station which caters to more than 5 lakh passengers every day; promising that they would turn one of the busiest terminals in the country to a world-class facility.

As per this ambitious mission, the stations will be converted to posh buildings offering world class facilities and shopping experience to travelers. The multi-store station building with separate sections for departures and arrivals, there is a provision for three skyscrapers for commercial use at the Ajmeri Gate side of the station which handles 361 trains a day. The designs are also made keeping the traffic flow in mind.

The new stations will also have digital signs, escalators, and auto-ticketing systems, lounges and shopping arenas too.

The station complex will provide adequate space for passengers to wait on the first floor. The second floor is reserved for house offices while the ground floor is for those leaving. We can soon expect that there will be a joint inspection of New Delhi station with South Korean team, if everything goes according to plan.

The railways have recently launched the first phase of the ambitious station redevelopment project for 23 junctions.
