Tamil Nadu man hacked to death over rationalistic social media posts

A 31-year-old man was hacked to death by a four member gang on Thursday night near Coimbatore.

H Farook, who hails from Bilal Estate in South Ukkadam, was a member of an atheist organisation, Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK).

According to a Times of India report, Ansath, a 30-year-old Muslim realtor, had surrendered before the judicial magistrate court-V on Friday evening in connection with the case.

Tamil Nadu police said Farook’s rational post had angered the people and it may be a possible motive behind the murder.

Farook was admin of a WhatsApp group where he posts rationalistic views against religions. He also posted rationalistic message on Facebook page which criticises the religion.
