In 1951, the Carmelite convent of Aylesford, England, underwent restoration and housed a relic of Saint Simon Stock. His feast is conducted in locations that honour him.
A document from the 13th century purported to be a letter from Saint Simon Stock’s secretary, Peter Swanington, was published in 1642 by a Carmelite friar, Fr. John Cheron. Historiographers have concluded that this letter was likely forged by Cheron himself in the early 20th century. People observe the liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16. The purpose of this celebration is to express devotion to the patron saint, the Virgin Mary.
