Gaya: A two-year-old girl was raped by an unidentified man in Bihar’s Gaya district yesterday. The accused was clearing the debris from a room when he saw the minor playing outside. He then took the minor into the house and then allegedly raped her. The incident came to light after a passerby heard the victim’s cries and rushed to her rescue.
Udai Kumar, Vishnupad Police Station House Officer said that one local residents informed them of the gory crime and thereafter rushed the two-year-old, who was in a subconscious state to the JPN hospital. The minor is said to be in a critical condition. The police said that the accused has been arrested and a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered.
Meanwhile, relatives and acquaintances went into a frenzy and pelted stones at the police station and demanded that they be allowed to punish the accused. The local residents even beat up the accused before handing him over to the police.
This is the second such incident that has been reported from Gaya. Earlier last month, a group of armed youths tied a man to a tree and raped his wife and 15-year-old daughter in the same district. The family was ambushed while they were crossing the area on a motorcycle near Sondiha village.
So far three people have been arrested and a charge sheet would be filed soon in a court for speedy trial in the case.
