UP: 6-year-old boy dies as he falls into drain after being chased by stray cow

The boy was riding a bicycle outside his house, when a stray cow charged at him. He tried to save himself, but fell into a 13-feet-deep open drain.

In a tragic incident, a 6-year-old boy being chased by a stray cow fell into a 13-feet-deep open drain and died in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district on Sunday.

According to police, the incident took place around 9 am, near Asfabad chouraha. The deceased who was on a cycle, has been identified as Harshit, son of Narender. Harshit belonged to Elani Nagar of Rasoolpur police jurisdiction, Firozabad district.

As quoted in the reports, the police officials said that the boy was riding a bicycle outside his house, when a stray cow charged at him. He tried to save himself, but fell into an open drain with his bicycle. Local residents rushed to pull out the boy from the drain, but could not save him. He was declared as brought dead at the hospital.

The boy’s body was sent for autopsy.

Officials also said that they will lodge an FIR of negligence against the concern authority or person/s once the victim’s family gives a written complaint.

Fifteen persons have died in 16 stray cattle attack cases in the past nine months across several districts in western UP.
