In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, a jilted lover killed the girl and his father during the pre-wedding celebration. The victims have been identified as Anchal and her father Rajkumar.
The video of the shooting went viral on social media. In the video, the girl and his kin were seen celebrating before the wedding function.
Moments later the jilted lover first shot the father and then the girl. According to TOI reports, the brother of the girl was also injured in the incident. The accused is absconding even after four days.
“The accused Saagar and his accomplices reached the girl’s house around midnight and began firing indiscriminately at the victims’ family members. Anchal and two other family members were directly hit while others ran for safety,” said Meerut SP (City) Akhilesh Narayan Singh.
Anchal died on the spot after she was hit by a bullet. Another bullet hit his father, but he died at the hospital during treatment. The girl’s brother is being treated at the hospital for bullet injury.
In his police complaint, Anchal’s elder brother Aman said, “The accused Saagar wanted to marry Anchal, but she had rejected him. On June 27 night, Saagar, his five friends including Rohit and Ankit reached our house on motorbikes and started pressurising us for marriage. Later, they opened fire.”
Police have filed an FIR under sections 302 (murder) 120B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other sections of SC/ST Act (Prevention of Atrocities). Five persons including Saagar, his mother Rekha and three other accused have been named in the FIR.
The prime accused Saagar is still absconding, while two of his aides have been arrested.
