In an appalling incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a woman planned her best friend’s death with an aim to burn her beyond recognition so that she could fake her own death and elope with her lover.
She was arrested on Wednesday by the police after a month of committing the heinous crime. As per the sources, the accused identified as Afsana was married to Abrar in 2018 but continued her relationship with a man with another community.
In order to get rid of Abrar, Afsana drugged her best friend Zeenat while they both were alone at home. Then she burnt the house and fled the spot.
SSP police said that by the time the fire doused off, Zeenat’s body was burnt beyond recognition and the family assumed that it was Afsana. After post-mortem, the body was buried. Following that, a few days later rumors poured in that Afsana was alive.
Meanwhile, Zeenat’s family too filed a missing person complaint. When police resumed the probe, it came into fore that Afsana was in love with Praveen before marriage. Also through investigation, it was found that Zeenat’s brother Ishtiaq had seen Zeenat last outside Afasan’s house on April 2, when the crime was committed.
An informer also told police that Afsana was seen in Lisari Gate area. Following which she was arrested by the police.
