Lucknow: A helpline number for professional veterinary help has been issued by the Uttar Pradesh govt for helping sick cows. A Corporate Organisation will provide door to door veterinary service to treat cows as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

“Any company with an experience of running livestock services can come on board” reiterates UP CM Yogi Adityanath. It is seeking the help of a firm to come on board for this project which will be run under the CSR obligations for corporates.

A senior UP government official told the media that the idea is to enable door-step delivery of Vet services in all 75 districts of UP, which will include vaccination, emergency medical treatment, artificial insemination, deworming and medical advice on veterinary problems.

The selected company will be setting up a computerised call center in UP for receiving such a call for medical help on a dedicated number and software will be developed too.

Not just this, the company will also be required to operate a newly-established Embryo Transfer Technology Laboratory and Training Centre in Bareilly for cattle. The company selected for this would need to have prior experience regarding Embryo Transfer technology and In-Vito Fertilization (IVF) for cattle. This project aims at producing more female calves in order to boost milk production and dairy farming in Uttar Pradesh.

The selected company will work with the UP Livestock Development Board of Association.

The UP government is following the same kind of model which was launched by the previous BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s ‘Pashu Sanjeevani’ programme was initiated by signing an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with a private company to roll out door-step animal healthcare services in that state in March 2018.

An IT system was also developed in MP along with a mobile App and a toll-free number for receiving and attending to calls for medical help at the door-step of dairy farmers. This service solved the difficulty faced by farmers of bringing sick cattle to the treatment centres located far away.
