Vinayaka Chaturthi: Significance

Lord Ganesha is one of the most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. He is widely revered, more specifically, as the remover of obstacles; the patron of arts and sciences; and the deva of intellect and wisdom. As the god of beginnings, he is honored at the start of rites and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as a patron of letters and learning during writing sessions.

On the auspicious day of Vinayaka Chaturthi, devotees get up early, take a bath, and wear clean clothes. They do Sankalpa (take a pledge that you would observe the vrat sincerely and whole-heartedly). Worship Lord Ganesha, offer Panchamrit made of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey to Lord Ganesha. Offer Chandan paste, flowers (red hibiscus or any other flower), durva grass, kumkuma, incense sticks, and dhoop.

Devotees observe this fast and worship Lord Ganesha to seek his blessings and to get rid of all obstacles in their life.
