Virat Kohli’s IPL Record: The IPL 2025 final will bring Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) together as both teams look to end their 17-year wait for the championship. The match will take place on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Fans everywhere will be excited to see these two teams battle it out after such a long wait for the title.

A big spotlight will be on Virat Kohli, who wears jersey number 18. Kohli has played for RCB for 18 years now, which is the most seasons any player has spent with one team in the IPL. Many wonder if this will be the year Kohli finally wins the one big trophy he has never held.

Kohli’s Role and Past IPL Finals

Cricket is a team game, and RCB can win even if Kohli does not have a special performance on the day. Still, Kohli is known as a player who often delivers in important matches for India, so his contribution might be very important. Surprisingly, Kohli’s record in IPL playoffs is not very strong. He has played 16 playoff games and scored 353 runs with a strike rate of 120.89. He has two half-centuries in these big matches, but both were in games his team lost.

Kohli has been in the IPL final three times before with RCB. The first time was in 2009 when he was just 20 years old. He batted at number six and scored only seven runs as RCB lost by six runs while chasing 143 runs.

In the 2011 final, Kohli batted at his usual spot at number three. The team was chasing 206 runs, but he got out for 35 runs off 32 balls. His dismissal came at a tough time, and the team lost again.

In 2016, Kohli showed better form. Coming off an excellent season, he looked confident in the final while chasing 209 runs. RCB was doing well at 140 for 1 before the 13th over. But then Barinder Sran took his wicket when Kohli scored 54 off 35 balls, and the team collapsed, losing the final.

So far, Kohli has scored 96 runs in IPL finals, averaging 32 with a strike rate of 128. RCB will hope that he can continue to improve in this final. But Punjab Kings have some strong bowlers like Kyle Jamieson, Arshdeep Singh, and Harpreet Brar who could challenge Kohli’s batting.
