Vizag Gas Leak LIVE Updates: As per the reports, at least 11 people have died, 300 have been hospitalised, and 5,000 have been infected after gas leak from a chemical plant in Vizag on Thursday early morning. As per reports, the leakage happened around 3am at LG Polymers industry at RR Venkatapuram near Naiduthota area close to Gopalapatnam, Visakhapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh government has said that 200-250 families living in nearby areas of the factory have been evacuated. The government also announced Rs 1 crore compensation to the kin of the dead. The government will offer Rs 20,000 each to the owners who have lost their animals
People in Gopalapatnam area, where the chemical plant is located, complained of irritation in eyes, breathlessness, nausea and rashes on their bodies. Around 70 people have been admitted to the King George Hospital.
More than a 1,000 people in five surrounding villages, in a three km radius, have been reported sick. Eyewitness said that many people were lying unconscious on the ground. The incident took place at a polymers unit located in the vicinity of the Naiduthota area near Gopalapatnam.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice to the Andhra Pradesh government and the Centre over the incident.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan has expressed shock over the Vizag gas leak. He has ordered officials to take up rescue operations on war footage. He suggested to avail services of red cross volunteers in evacuation. He ordered Visakhapatnam Red Cross unit to constitute medical camps, ANI reports.
Several animals have also been unattended, and are lying dead or unconscious near the site of the Visakhapatnam gas leak tragedy.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the district officials to take every possible step to save lives and bring the situation under control: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Office.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi twweted that he just spoke to officials of MHA and NDMA regarding the situation in Visakhapatnam, which is being monitored closely. "I pray for everyone’s safety and well-being in Visakhapatnam," he said.
Rahul Gandhi urged Congress workers to provide all necessary support to those affected by the gas leak incident.
