Police have arrested a youth on charges of burning pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses and making them go viral on social media, according to a police official.

Accused Agasti Gareda, who belongs to the Panchali village which falls under the Tikiri police area, allegedly burnt the pictures of Hindu gods while worshipping the photo of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Later he made some of the pictures go viral on social media, said Rayagada SP Saravana Vivek M according to an Odisha Sun Times report.

The accused has been arrested under various Sections (153A, 295, 295A, 34 and 120B) of the Indian Penal Code, sources told the media outlet.
