Expenses over Rs 2,021 crores were incurred on chartered flights, maintenance of aircraft and hotline facilities during Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s foreign visits since June 2014, according to the government.

VK Singh, Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs, while answering the queries, listed countries that the PM visited between 2014 and 2018 which now place themselves among the top 10 from where India has received maximum FDI inflows.

The minister added that in the years from 2014 to 2017, Foreign Direct Investments grew from USD 30,930.5 million in 2014 to USD 43478.27 million in 2017.

In his tenure as a Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has till now visited over 55 countries on his 48 foreign trips.

The data also listed expenditure incurred during Manmohan Singh’s foreign visits from 2009 to 2014, during UPA too. The data read that over Rs 1,346 crore was incurred on maintenance of aircraft, chartered flights and hotline facilities.

The collected FDI inflows in the duration between 2014 and June 2018 read USD 136,077.75 million in comparison to USD 81,843.71 million recorded for the years between 2011 and 2014, VK Singh stated.

According to the data, the breakdown of the expenditure incurred by the government in Narendra Modi’s foreign visits stands as follows:

Maintenance of the aircraft: Rs 1,583.18 crore

Chartered flights: Rs 429.25 crore

Hotline: Rs 9.11 crore
