The ruling Trinamool Congress has found itself in the middle of a huge controversy after one of its leader Anubrata Mondal directed his party members to get those arrested in the district who are not falling in line with TMC.
Speaking at a district-level party meeting, Mondal used abusive language to threaten opponents and even called up police officers to get people arrested.
He said, “I have thrown out one member from the five-member local committee I had formed earlier…get him arrested. Also there is a fat woman…who was with us earlier…her name is Sambita…She is now supporting and working for BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party]…get her arrested in a drug-peddling case…”
Mondal, who is known as Kesto-da among his supporters, ordered that a young man, recently thrown out of the party recently, should also be falsely implicated on similar grounds.
This is not the first time that the leader in under political spotlight for his statements. Mondal has earlier made several comments ranging from beating up BJP and Congress workers to even gunning them down if required. He has also threatened policemen.
