Delhi SIR Deadline Extention: The Election Commission has given Delhi more time for the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list. This is the voter roll clean-up work that checks names, updates details, and removes wrong entries. In Delhi, Booth Level Officers will now continue house-to-house visits until August 8, 2026. The draft voter roll will be published on August 17, 2026, and the final voter roll is now set for October 19, 2026. The qualifying date for this revision is October 1, 2026.

New Schedule

This revised plan gives voters extra time to check whether their names are correct in the list. It also gives officials more time to finish door-to-door verification. Once the draft roll comes out on August 17, people will be able to file claims and objections if they want to add a name, remove a wrong name, or fix a mistake. In the revised Delhi schedule, claims and objections can be filed from August 17 to September 16, and these will be handled by October 1 before the final list is published on October 19.

The Election Commission had earlier planned a shorter timeline, but it changed the schedule after reviewing the situation. The new dates give Delhi voters a longer window to take part in the revision process and check their voter details carefully.

New Rule for First-Time Voters

The Election Commission has also changed the online voter registration process for people applying for the first time. New applicants filling Form 6 now have to give details linked to their parents’ SIR information as part of the declaration process. Reports say this step is compulsory for online submission. This is to help match new voters with existing records and make the voter list more accurate.
