Domestic plane fares hit pockets of air passengers as Diwali nears

Are you planning to celebrate this Diwali with your family? If yes, hope you have already got your tickets. If No, it may cost you a fortune. Indian Railways are showing ‘No Room’ for most of the trains despite running several special trains seeing Diwali rush. If you think of taking the airways, Oops.. the situation is no good.

With Diwali nearing, the domestic air fares have shot like anything and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation is twiddling its thumbs.

Flight Tickets for Jaipur-Mumbai

Taking a flight from Jaipur to Mumbai between November 3 and 11 may set you back by Rs 20,000. Where during off season, the fare is between Rs 2000 and Rs 3000, Diwali season has taken the fare to Rs 12,000. The Pune-Jaipur fare has jumped from Rs 4,000 to Rs 12,000 and from Chennai to Jaipur, to Rs 11,000. The normal fares for these destinations are Rs 40,00 and Rs 5,500 respectively.

Even a short-haul flight from Chandigarh to Jaipur will cost you Rs 6,000. Surat-Jaipur tickets cost around Rs 7,400. The low-cost airline Spicejet is charging Rs 5,300 for flying to Ahmedabad from Jaipur, up from the normal Rs 2,500. The Chennai-Jaipur fare has climbed to Rs 11,500 from Rs 4,500.
