In a major move to enhance international travel convenience, AirAsia has unveiled a new Auto Visa Check (AVC) feature on its AirAsia MOVE app and official website airasia.com, enabling travellers to complete online check-in seamlessly for routes that require visas or Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).
The AVC feature marks a significant innovation in digital travel services, allowing passengers to verify their visas in real time — removing the need to wait in long airport queues for manual visa checks. Previously, international travellers flying to visa-restricted countries had to visit airport counters to complete check-in due to document verification requirements.
With AVC, guests can now check in online up to 14 days before departure and as late as one hour before the scheduled take-off. This streamlines the boarding process, reduces congestion at check-in counters, and adds convenience for millions of AirAsia passengers across the region.
Here’s How AVC Works:
-
Open the AirAsia MOVE app or visit airasia.com
-
Choose your flight and begin the check-in process
-
When prompted, either scan your visa sticker from your passport or upload your e-visa
-
Once verified, your e-boarding pass will be issued
-
If verification fails or isn’t available, head to the counter for manual document check
AirAsia has clarified that AVC is currently applicable only for multiple-entry visas. Guests travelling with single or double-entry visas will still need to check in at the airport.
Passengers carrying only hand luggage can proceed directly to the boarding gate using their digital boarding pass (where accepted), or print a copy at self-service kiosks. For those with checked baggage, kiosks will issue baggage tags, and bags can be dropped at the dedicated baggage drop counter.
This feature is part of AirAsia’s ongoing efforts to leverage technology to simplify air travel and improve customer experience.
For updated visa requirements for different destinations, travellers are advised to refer to the travel requirements section on the airline’s website.
