Bihar Assembly Polls: Tejashwi, Manjhi and Kushwaha to interact with Sonia Gandhi on May 22

The meeting of opposition parties in Bihar which is going to be conducted by Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has been scheduled at 3:30 pm on May 22. The meeting will include RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Jitan Ram Manjhi from the Hindustan Awam Morcha, and RLSP president Upendra Kushwaha.

This meeting will aim to hold discussions on the coronavirus crisis and the difficulties faced by migrant workers.

Congress senior and Rajya Sabha member Ahmed Patel contacted the leaders personally on their mobile phone numbers for the invitation.

As per RJD sources, Tejashwi has given his consent to participate in the May 22 meeting. The other state RJD leaders would not accompany him.

As per the reports, the meeting would discuss the government’s COVID-19 response and its lacunae, states being bulldozed by the Centre on COVID-19 response, trampling upon the federal structure and the Rs 20,000 lakh crore financial package announced by the Prime Minister, including raising the fiscal deficit limit to 5% but with conditions.

On the coronavirus front,  Bihar COVID-19 cases surged to 1663 and death toll stands at 10. At least 571 people have recovered after getting infected with the deadly disease in the state. All 38 districts are infected by the virus. As per the data released by Bihar Health Department, 55,361 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state.
