Kendrapara: Tensions prevailed in Trinath Bazar, Rajnagar after unidentified miscreants vandalised a statue of veteran leader and former Odisha chief minister Biju Patnaik here. Over a hundred BJD activists today hit streets demanding arrest of the lawbreakers.

The party activists staged a demonstration at Dakabangala Chhak in Pattamundai area of the district by burning tyres. They held banners and shouted slogans.

This comes after yesterday, June 19 evening, the party activists staged a road blockade on Pattamundai-Rajnagar Main Road at Trinath Bazaar by disrupting vehicular movements on the road for a while, according to an Odisha Sun Times report. Police later rushed to the spot following which the agitation was withdrawn.

The structure had been unveiled in April, 2017 by the former BJD MLA Alekha Kumar Jena who has since moved to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
