Biju Janata Dal will not participate in the Mahagathbandhan, revealed Odisha Chief Minister and party chief Naveen Patnaik. While interacting with the media, Patnaik said, “the party will continue to remain equidistant from both BJP & Congress.”

Earlier in the election of the Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha, the BJD along with TRS had sided with the BJP-backed JD(U) candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh.

Both BJP and Congress are facing alliance trouble months before the general elections. Asom Gana Parishad decided to cut its ties with BJP over the Citizenship Amendment Bill, the National People’s Party seems to lack confidence in the alliance. When party chief Conrad Sangma was asked it if pulling out of NDA is an option, the current Chief Minister of Meghalaya said, “we will when the situation arises”.

Giving another blow to BJP, AJSU Party spokesperson Devsharan Bhagat said on Monday, “the party will contest the 2019 state legislative election alone. The decision with regards to the Lok Sabha 2019 Elections which is just a few months away will be taken in the upcoming parliamentary board meeting.” Bhagat had further said that they made an alliance with the BJP in 2014 eyeing a stable government, but the party has learnt and it will contest the upcoming elections on its own.

In a hit to Congress, after the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) Santhal Paragana’s meeting that was concluded at the resident of the party chief Shibu Soren, Hemant Soren revealed that the party would contest the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections on their own.
