In a major political development ahead of Madhya Pradesh polls 2018, senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Gaur would join Congress soon, a leading newspaper reported on Tuesday. According to the report, Madhya Pradesh BJP has shown reluctance towards fielding either Babulal Gaur or his daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur in the upcoming elections. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Kamal Nath has stated that we (Congress) have invited Babulal Gaur in Congress.

Babulal Gaur, who always praised Congress on various grounds, has earlier stated that “Kamal Nath’s model of development in Chhindwara must be applied in whole Madhya Pradesh and Nath as union minister helped in the development of the state”.

Following the Babulal Gaur’s statement, most senior BJP leaders in the poll-bound state have distanced themselves from former Chief Minister.

Babulal Gaur is eight-time sitting MLA from Govindpura constituency and his daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur has served as Mayor of Bhopal.  Both leaders have also stated that, if denied tickets from BJP,  we will contest as independent candidates from Bhopal.
