Central Railway Block on Sept 28: 15 Trains, Including Vande Bharat are Affected

Central Railway will conduct a mega block on September 28, affecting 15 trains including Vande Bharat Express. Maintenance will run from 08:00 to 13:30 causing diversions and 10–15 minute delays.

Central Railway Block on Sept 28: Central Railway has announced a major train block on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The block will help workers carry out important maintenance and engineering work on the tracks to keep train services safe and smooth.

Dr. Swapnil Nila Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, said, “Mumbai Division will operate Mega Block on 5th and 6th lines on Main line between Vidyavihar and Thane stations and UP and Down Trans-Harbour line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works on Sunday, 28.09.2025” reported Indina Express.

Timing

The main line block will happen on the 5th and 6th lines between Vidyavihar and Thane stations. Work will start at 08:00 in the morning and continue until 13:30 in the afternoon. At the same time, the UP and Down Trans-Harbour line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations will also be under maintenance.

Area

The railways said the block is necessary to make sure the tracks stay in good condition. Without these repairs, trains could face delays or safety issues later. The mega block is a planned effort to prevent bigger problems in the future and to make trains run smoother for passengers.

Trains and Passenger Impact

Central Railway has warned that some Mail and Express trains going DOWN will be diverted during the block. These trains will first move to the DOWN fast line at Vidyavihar station. Then at Thane, they will be switched back to the 5th line and handed over with a delay of about 10-15 minutes during the block period.

Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and expect minor delays. The railway authorities are working hard to reduce inconvenience while completing the essential work.

Following UP Mail/Express trains (CSMT bound) will be diverted on UP Fast line at Thane and will arrive destination 10 to 15 mins late during block period.

The UP Mail and Express trains going toward LTT will take a different route on the UP Fast line at Thane. Then at Vidyavihar, they will switch back to the 6th line and reach their destination about 10–15 minutes late during the block.

UP and DN Trans-Harbour Line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations from 11.10 hrs to 16.10 hrs

  • UP & DN Trans-Harbour line services will remain suspended between Vashi / Nerul and Thane stations during the block period.
  • DN line services for Vashi / Nerul / Panvel leaving Thane from 10.35 hrs to 16.07 hrs and UP line services for Thane leaving Panvel / Nerul / Vashi from 10.25 hrs to 16.09 hrs will remain cancelled.
