Creating Text-Based Designs with Adobe Firefly: Text Effects is an Adobe Firefly tool that employs artificial intelligence and human creativity to create text-based logos. On the Adobe Firefly web app, the utility is accessible to all Adobe users without the need to subscribe to a paid plan. You can add various effects to your insignia by describing them within the input prompt.
The logos you generate in Adobe Firefly can be downloaded with a transparent background, but the saved images will contain a watermark indicating that AI was used to create them.

Artists and designers must embrace artificial intelligence as a tool to enhance their creativity in this era of rapid technological progress. You may have already witnessed AI used to create any form of art, including images, videos, and even music. Now, you can also use it to generate logos from text by describing how you want your design to appear.

Thanks to Adobe’s Firefly AI, you can now effortlessly construct distinctive and eye-catching logos using text descriptions as input. In this post, we’ll walk you through the process of using Adobe Firefly to create stunning logos with simplicity.]

What is the Adobe Firefly Text Effects tool?

Adobe now offers a variety of AI-enabled tools as part of Adobe Firefly, thereby enhancing its creative suite. The Text Effects tool, which allows users to create logos with stylized text, is one of the notable features that are accessible to everyone.

Text Effects utilises Adobe’s AI capabilities to generate multiple character designs for your logo by allowing you to describe the desired appearance. Similarly to image generation, you can use your imagination to determine how letters appear in your logo. Your logo may contain both letters and numerals on a single line, with a maximum of 20 characters per line.

Since Firefly enables you to construct these stylized texts on a transparent background, you can use them as company or brand logos. As long as you are logged into your Adobe account, the Text Effects utility allows you to generate an unlimited number of logo designs.

Accessing the Text Effects tool in Adobe Fireworks

Adobe’s Text Effects utility is included in the Adobe Firefly web app, which is accessible to anyone with an existing Adobe account for free. To begin using the Adobe AI Text Effects utility, you must access the Adobe Firefly web app by visiting firefly.adobe.com in a web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox are supported). When the Adobe Firefly homepage loads, select Sign In in the upper-right hand corner.

On the Sign In the page that loads, you can sign in with an email address associated with an existing Adobe account or select the Create an account link to create a new Adobe account. Additionally, you can enrol in to Adobe using your Apple, Google, or Facebook account.

After logging into your Adobe account, you will return to the Adobe Firefly homepage. Scroll down and then select Generate within the “Text Effects” box.

You are now on the Text Effects page within Adobe Firefly, where you can begin using Adobe’s AI to design logos using text prompts.

Creating Text-Based Designs with Adobe Firefly: How to create text-based AI logos using Adobe Firefly

After registering with Adobe, you can create text logos by visiting Firefly’s Text Effects page in a web browser. You can generate text-based logos using text prompts and modify them using Adobe’s AI tool from this page.

When you visit the Text Effects page, you should see a collection of AI-created text logos that others have submitted to Adobe Firefly. You can hover over any of these images to view the corresponding logo creation prompt. This will provide some inspiration before you generate your own logos with Adobe’s Text Effects utility.

This page’s footer contains a large text box with two distinct divisions. The one on the left is where you input the actual text for the logo you wish to create, while the one on the right is where you describe how the logo should appear.

You can begin by inputting the logo’s text. This text can include both letters and numbers, and you can input up to twenty characters when generating a logo with Adobe’s AI tool. Noting that the tool can only generate a single line of text, striking Enter will not generate a new line to write on. In this case, we will merely design a logo for “Nerdschalk.”

In the second section of the text box, you can input a description for the logo you are creating. As a descriptor for “Nerdschalk,” we entered “electronics, chipsets.” After completing both of these sections, select the Generate button in the bottom right corner.

Adobe will generate four logos based on the text and description entered on the previous page. By default, the upper half of the screen will display a preview of the first design.

To preview the remaining designs, click on their respective thumbnails at the bottom of the page.

How to edit AI logos within Adobe Firefly

When you generate AI logos with Adobe Firefly’s Text effect tool, you will see four logo creations along with options to modify the logo’s appearance. These additional options will be accessible from the sidebar on the right, and we will explain how to apply each one to your logo design individually.

Creating Text-Based Designs with Adobe Firefly: Examine representative prompts

The first option in the sidebar on the right is the Sample prompts section. If you’re having trouble deciding on a description or were unable to create a logo using your current one, you can use the various options under “Sample prompt” to apply the desired affect to your text. You will see six prompts by default, but you can access additional options by selecting View all in the upper right corner.

When you expand the Sample prompts section, you will see a variety of prompts organised into categories such as Nature, Material and texture, and Food and drink. You may select your desired category by clicking on any of the prompts.

Adobe will apply the selected effect to your text automatically as soon as you click on your preferred prompt. Additionally, you should see the prompt that was used to generate the logo in the text field at the bottom.

Now, you can click on the remaining thumbnails to observe additional creations, or you can click Refresh at the bottom to generate additional logo variations. You can also attempt the additional options listed under “Sample prompts” to obtain additional results.

Choose the effects that best suit your logo

After deciding on a description and determining that your logo appears good with the chosen prompt, you can modify how the selected effect wraps around the letters and numbers on your logo. Here, the “Text Effects fill” section proves useful.

In the “Text Effects fill” section of the right-hand sidebar, the following options are available:

Tight: When you select this option, the design for your logo will fit the outline of your character more precisely, so no portion of the design will extend beyond the character boundaries.

With this option, the text effect will be applied to your logo more creatively, with some design elements extending beyond the letters and numerals in your logo.

Medium is the middle ground between Tight and Loose; some Text Effects may appear outside the characters’ outlines, but the effect will be less dramatic than with the “Loose” setting.

Depending on the text effect you’ve applied and your particular preference, you can choose the appropriate Text Effects fill option for your logo.

Choose a preferred font

One of the most important aspects of logo design is selecting a font that facilitates straightforward branding. Adobe Firefly enables you to apply a variety of typefaces to your logo while it is being generated using its AI tool. The logo that Firefly applies by default is Acumin Pro, but you can choose from additional options under “Font” by selecting View All first.

When you do so, the Font section should expand to display a total of 12 options. You can select a font style by clicking on it, and Firefly will seamlessly apply it to your logo.

You can test out every font style in this section, and when you’re done selecting a font, you can return to the main tools sidebar by clicking Font at the top of this sidebar.

Creating Text-Based Designs with Adobe Firefly: Alter the logo’s background

When you begin constructing a logo in Adobe Firefly by adding a description, all of your creations have a transparent background by default. Transparent logos are optimal for incorporating your brand into any document or website without distorting the appearance of the destination. However, if you want to change the background colour when generating a logo, Firefly allows you to do so.

To alter the background of your logo, scroll down until you see the “Colour” section in the right sidebar. Click the Background Colour tab in this section to alter the background colour of your logo.

Note: Do not select Text Colour, as this will alter any Text Effects you’ve previously applied to solid colours.

Here, you can select the colour tile that will serve as your background. The specified colour will then be applied to the on-screen logo.

After customising your logo with the desired options, you can save it by selecting the Download icon in the upper right corner of the generated logo.
