Delhi: CA student arrested for duping people by creating fake government websites like ‘Modi Laptop’

In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old aspiring charted accountant was arrested for allegedly duping people after creating fake government websites and misleading people by offering them free laptops and solar panels.

The accused has been identified as Rohit Soni who is a resident of Churu in Rajasthan and is a B.Com graduate, said the police.

As per a statement of police, he had created a fake website called Modi laptop and free solar panel. The police said that the accused closed down the website after an IIT graduate was arrested for similar cheating recently.

Rohit was arrested by the police from Churu district after they received information that someone had created a fake website under the garb of the central government’s flagship scheme.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that the man started a blog in 2016 which became very popular and later he decided to earn money through his blog.

He created fake websites which were misled as government websites. It offered free solar panels and laptops.

The police added that the accused used to ask the visitors to click on a link for confirming their application for free solar panel and laptops.

However, the link actually made the visitors download an app “4fun” and for every download, he used to get Rs 6.
