In a shocking incident reported, a youth strangled his 18-year-old lover to death in northeast Delhi’s Sonia Vihar on Saturday night.
The deceased body was found by the woman’s friend who went to Suraj’s room to check on her and found her lying unconscious.
On discovering the body, woman’s friend alerted the police about the murder at 4AM on Sunday.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. Subsequently, the victim’s friends were questioned and it was found that the room belonged to Suraj.
A case was registered and the police got into prompt action. The officials traced the suspect’s mobile phone location and held him from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
During the investigation, it was found that the deceased was in relation with the accused Suraj and were planning to get married soon. However, lately there was some tension among them following which the woman had stopped meeting Suraj. On Saturday, after a lot of pestering, she agreed to meet him and went to his room in Sonia Vihar.
However, an argument ensued and took an ugly turn as Suraj strangled her in a fit of rage. He then locked his room and boarded a bus for Amethi.
