Delhi Heatwave: Delhi and the nearby region got a little relief on Saturday, May 23, 2026, when strong winds, thunder, and light rain cooled things down for a while. But that break will not last long. The India Meteorological Department says the heatwave is coming back fast and will stay strong for most of the next week. Heatwave conditions are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi from May 24 to May 29, with severe heatwave conditions in many pockets from May 24 to May 27.

The IMD’s latest Delhi forecast also says the city may see a mix of stormy weather and heat, but the hot spell will soon take over again. The weather office warns that the strong heat will not go away quickly and may only ease near the end of the week.
