BACKGROUND

The birthplace of George Walton Lucas Jr. is Modesto, California. His ancestry includes German, Swiss-German, English, and Scottish. He is the son of Dorothy Lucas and George Lucas Sr. As a child, Lucas enjoyed science fiction, comic books, and race car driving. As a result of an accident, however, this passion rapidly waned. Lucas attended Modesto Junior College after high school, where he studied anthropology, sociology, and literature, among other subjects. Approximately at the same time, he began experimenting with film cameras. Lucas transferred to the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California (USC) once he realised his passion for cinematography.

In 1967, Lucas earned a bachelor of fine arts degree before enrolling as a graduate student in film production at the University of Southern California. The first film he directed was “Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB,” which garnered the top prize at the National Student Film Festival from 1967 to 1968. Warner Bros. granted Lucas a student scholarship to observe and work on the production of a film.

Lucas was a cameraman:

The film he selected was “Finian’s Rainbow” (1968), which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. In 1969, Lucas was a cameraman on the Rolling Stones concert film “Gimme Shelter.” In 1969, Lucas founded Lucasfilm, where he directed his first significant film, “American Graffiti” (1973), with great success. He married film editor Marcia Lou Gryphon in the same year, and they divorced in 1983.

“Star Wars” was released in 1977, after George Lucas had spent many years on his largest undertaking to date. It rapidly became one of the highest-grossing films in history. Following the release of the spectacular film, Lucas worked on spinoffs and other franchise media. He also worked on numerous other films, such as “Indiana Jones,” “Twice Upon a Time,” and “Ewoks: Caravan of Courage,” to mention a few. “Star Wars” prequel “Episode I – The Phantom Menace” was released in 1999. Early in the 21st century, George Lucas worked on additional “Star Wars” prequels. In 2013, he wed Mellody Hobson after entering semi-retirement in 2012 and concentrating on smaller projects rather than blockbuster films. Lucas is the father of four children. In 2015, Lucas served as a consultant for the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy. This mega-director’s career has been extremely successful, and he has always had his eye on the pulse.
