Google’s annual ‘Year in Search: Insight for brands report released on Thursday and it has some major revelations to make. The report showed 61 percent of all searches across banking, financial service and insurance are coming from non-metros as 55 percent of all auto-related searches from non-metros.

Other trends show the emergence of video as the new search tools and the rise of Indian language Internet users. In India, the online video audience is expected to grow to 500 million by 2020. Also as per the reports, the watch time for science videos or hobby related videos in India have tripled in 2018. The watch time for beauty tips videos in India has doubled year on year in 2018 thereby making YouTube the new beauty advisor. Reports also tell that the searches related to beauty have grown by 40 % last year.

The report also reveals about the language users. As per it, 9 out of 10 Internet users in India are likely to be Indian language users (Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi). By 2021, Indian language users are expected to account for nearly 75 percent of India’s Internet user base. Also, Google search trends show a significant move in this direction.  The report also found that Hindi searches have increased across various query types.

Another interesting trend that was highlighted, Dating searches are coming at par with the matrimony queries. Also, 40 percent growth in dating related searches has been seen.
