The most vibrant festival of India, Holi is just a few weeks away. This year, the festival of colours will be celebrated on March 28, 29, 30.

The three-day-long festival starts with ‘Holika Dahan’ and ends with ‘Phagwa’. This year, given the protocols to be followed due to the pandemic that surrounds us, we need to be cautious and mindful of the get-together planned, to celebrate this Holi.

Holi brings along lots of food, joy, and unfortunately stubborn colours. These chemical loaded colours can damage the skin to a great extent. However, rubbing your skin to get rid of these colours can cause more damage to the skin.

This Holi, follow these simple steps to get rid of stubborn colour. Here’s how to remove Holi colour:

Lemon:

Rubbing fresh lemon on the areas of your face with colour stain can lighten it due to its acidic properties. Just rub the lemon gently for 15 minutes and rinse it with lukewarm or normal tap water.

Coconut Oil:

Using coconut oil on the face before soap also aids in removing the colour, as does the rubbing of lemon wedges on the skin with oil and wheat flour mixture.

White Vinegar:

Add half a cup of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of Ariel to 2-3 litres of cold water. The acid does the trick here and pulls the colour from your clothes.

Aloe Vera:

You can cover your face and the exposed areas with aloe vera. It will keep your skin soft and will not allow the colour to settle on your skin. It will also be easy to wash away after the Holi celebrations.

Egg Mask:

Eggs usually help in improving skin texture, be it any type. The yolk, rich in fatty acids moisturizes the skin while the egg whites contain albumin, a protein that helps to tighten pores and also remove excessive oil. Just whip together three tablespoons of yoghurt with one egg and three tablespoons of lemon juice and apply it to the face for 20 minutes. Wash it off and apply moisturizer.

Milk:

Apply a paste adding besan and milk on your face and let it dry for 10 minutes. You can even scrub it out in circular motions. Wash it with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer to get rid of the Holi colour. Milk contains vitamin A which solves the problem of dry skin and acne-prone skin.
