IIT Kharagpur student found hanging: In West Bengal’s Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, a fourth-year student was discovered hanged in his dorm room on Tuesday, according to the police. The dead has been named by the police as K. Kiran Chandra, a student at IIT Kharagpur’s Electrical Engineering Department.
The deceased was a Telangana inhabitant of the Medak district. The father of the deceased asked, “Why are IIT students under such a lot of stress? He was under stress because of a project.
IIT Kharagpur stated in a statement that the student “chose the path of self-harm,” and the police indicated they are looking into the situation. The tragic death of K. Kiran Chandra, a fourth-year dual-degree student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, is sincerely mourned by the students, staff, and faculty of IIT Kharagpur. He made the decision to commit himself on the evening of October 17, 2023, while a resident at the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hall of Residence, according to the statement.

The deceased was discovered hanging in his room after his two roommates left after they had been there for an hour, according to the institute. At the BC Roy Technology Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, he was brought. K Kiran Chandra was at his hostel room with two other people up till around 7:30 PM. The other two pupils later departed for their academic pursuits. In the aftermath, his room was discovered to be locked from the inside by fellow LBS Hall residents at 8.30 PM. He was discovered hanging when the door was pried open. He was taken right away to the BC Roy Technology Hospital by security and other students. Despite all of the doctors’ efforts, Kiran was pronounced dead about 11:30 p.m., according to the institute.
To determine the cause of the strange death, the police are looking into the matter.
