IPL 2024 Rule Changes

IPL 2024 Rule Changes: Bowlers will be able to throw two bouncers per over in the Indian Premier League 2024. This is a big change from the previous rule that said they could only throw one short ball. The BCCI put this rule in place for the first time in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) in 2023–24. Test and One Day International (ODI) games allow two bouncers per over, while Twenty20 matches closely follow ICC rules that only allow one short ball per over.

This is a picture from the playoff game between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans (IPL 2023.1).

Also, the BCCI has chosen to keep the rule that a catch must be confirmed during IPL 2024 games. This is different from ICC rules, which say that only the on-field official can review a stumping call.

The BCCI makes sure that the fielding team is treated fairly by checking catches before deciding who is stumped.

Each team will be able to review two balls, and like last year, they will also be able to review wides and no balls. The IPL, on the other hand, has decided not to use the stop clock rule, which is a big change from how the ICC recently played. This rule, which is now fixed in white-ball international matches, is meant to make sure that things run smoothly, but it won’t be used in the IPL.

It was reported a few days ago that the competition would have a Smart Replay System. Two Hawk-Eye operators sitting next to the TV umpire in the same room will now send direct messages to the TV umpire to help them make decisions more quickly and accurately.

This new system will give correct visual data with the help of eight high-speed cameras set in a planned way across the ground. With this new setup, the TV show director’s usual job of being a go-between for the umpire and the Hawk-Eye operators will no longer be needed.

The first big game of the new season will be at Chepauk Stadium between the reigning winners, Chennai Super Kings, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In this match, both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be back in a challenging cricket game.

Cricket fans last saw Dhoni play in the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans. Kohli, on the other hand, hasn’t played since January.

A few days before the match, RCB changed their name from “Bangalore” to Bengaluru, which is the current name of the city.
