Journalist Shujaat Bukhari's suspected killer died in encounter

Out of six terrorists that were killed in an encounter on Friday in Anantnag district one was suspected of murdering Kashmir-based renowned journalist Shujaat Bukhari.

Azad Malik was amongst those terrorists who were killed in the encounter. He was wanted in the journalist’s murder case. Bukhari was killed while leaving his office in Press Enclave on June 14.

Along with Mr Bukhari, his personal security officer also lost his life while guarding him. Bukhari was provided with police protection since an attack was made on him in 2000. The Editor of Rising Kashmir, Bukhari’s murder was condemned everywhere.

The mastermind behind the attack was reportedly Sajjad Gul, who currently resides in Pakistan and according to police is associated with LeT.

Malik, Ahmad Bhat and Naveed Jatt were also identified as suspects.
