In a shocking incident reported, a 40-year-old father allegedly set his teenage daughter on fire because she was ‘addicted to mobile phone’.
According to the reports, the accused man, identified as Mohamad Mansuri from Palghar district in Maharashtra on Tuesday reportedly got into an argument with his daughter who he claim was hooked on to her phone.
Following the argument with his daughter, the accused Mansuri doused her in kerosene and set her ablaze while the other members of the family were away from the house when the incident occurred.
It was some neighbours who rushed to the spot after hearing her cry. The girl was rushed to hospital.
The 16-year-old victim suffered 70 per cent burn injuries in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at JJ Hospital, a police official said.
Following the incident, accused Mansuri has been arrested and booked for murder under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
