Monsoon session: Against Dalit atrocity, Mayawati threatens to quit

The second day of monsoon parliament session was stormy as BSP chief, Mayawati threatened to resign from Rajya Sabha. Soon after, the Opposition troops in the well of the House started shouting slogan ‘Dalit virodhi yeh sarkar, nai chalegi.” The opposition raised slogan in Rajya Sabha against the Narendra Modi government over the untameable atrocities against Dalits.

The Lok Sabha session was adjourned till 12 noon following the uproar. Following the adjournment, Union Minister MA Naqvi jumped into the discussion, saying “Mayawati should apologize for challenging the Chair.” This led to more chaos as Mayawati walked out from the House saying she is not being allowed to raise the issues of her community. She further threatens to resign, saying she is not being allowed to speak in the House.

In today’s, Parliament session BSP supremo raised Saharanpur Dalit-Thakur violence issue in Rajya Sabha, which led to series of argument and finally opposition chanting slogans.

This monsoon session of parliament is expected to be a stormy affair with the opposition parties all set to corner the Narendra Modi government over a host of issues. Eighteen opposition parties are expected to raise the military stand-off with China, the law and order situation in Kashmir in the wake of the terror attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and incidents of lynching over the beef controversy and suicide of farmers in some states.

Congress has already made clear that it would seek answers from the current government over an ongoing border stand-off with China, the worsening situation in Kashmir and mob lynching incidents in the name of the cow.
