In a shocking incident reported from Madhya Pradesh, five vigilantes were arrested by the police after a video that shows they were beating up three persons including a Muslim Man and woman on suspicion of carrying meat.
Further, the video shows gaurakshaks forcing the three of them to shout Jai Shri Ram slogans. Reportedly the incident happened on May 22 but the police came to know about it on May 24 after the video went viral.
The police told a media portal that a habitual offender along with others was arrested for assault. They were identified as Yogesh Uikey, Deepesh Namdev, Rohit Yadav and Shyam Dehriya. Five of them were booked under IPC section 143, 148, 149, 341, 294, 323 and 506 and also section 25 of arms act.
However, on May 22, Taufik, Anjum Shama, and Dilip Malviya were arrested under the anti-cow slaughter act and sent to judicial custody after the cow vigilantes informed the police that they were allegedly carrying the meat in an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler from a village in Khairi. The police have sent the meat to the laboratory for testing. Also, they informed that the situation was under control.
The police station in charge of Dunda Seoni told that a relative of one of the three-person filed an FIR after the video surfaced. He said that the vigilantes have informed the police after thrashing the three of them. He also said that one of the five accused also belongs to an organization called Shriram Sena but was expelled last year.
