Before the Crusades, oriental carpets were a distant concept and did not appear in Europe until the 11th century. In England, rug production did not become significant until the 16th century.
Unfortunately, rugs can be lovely additions to any home, but nothing lasts eternally. Over time, the fibres can become strained and gather up, causing the rug to develop an unfortunate lump.
