Patna: Janata Dal-United vice president Prashant Kishor is deriving another strategy to bring more success to his party. After becoming victorious in Patna University Students’ Union Election, PK is now trying to connect intellectuals and social activists ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

On Thursday at 7 Circular road, he held a meeting with such people in the state capital. The meeting lasted over an hour. In this meeting, he asked these intellectuals to support in the political change without being part of JD(U).

The old and tested strategy of Prashant Kishor:

In an attempt to get the hang of what’s missing with JDU, Kishor held this meeting and tried to understand the mood of these educated and affluent people of Bihar.

However, those who attended the meeting didn’t miss the chance and handed PK their demands. JDU Rajya Sabha MP Pavan Verma was accompanying Kishor and they urged the intellectuals to hand over their lists of demand.

PK and Verma have promised them to solve their three demands out of five before having another round of meeting.

Some of the people who attended this meeting are Ratnesh Singh, Sanjay Upadhyay, Anish Ankur, Manoj Kumar, Bhawna Shekhar, Mangla Rani. Apart from them several teachers from Patna University, Journalists, Literary personalities, and writers participated in this meeting.

JDU VP said that he is trying to engage them in the politics without asking them to join his party. He further added that his efforts are an attempt to get these intellectuals participates in electoral politics without taking the membership of his party.

While in the meeting, participants asked questions and demanded to improve the funding towards youth and culture department. They also demanded to open drama society in every single district of Bihar. One participant Bhawna Shekhar questioned both the leaders over annual Book Fair which is stalled and asked their response.

BJP’s concern over PK’s strategy:

The ruling alliance of BJP-JDU in the state has become uncomfortable after the PUSU results and leaders from both the parties are accusing each other.

Prashant Kishor who once worked as an election strategist for Bhartiya Janta Party in 2014 Lok Sabha election is well aware of his style and looked worried after his first performance joining JDU in the PUSU election. PK also had been confronted by ABVP leaders during the Students’ Union election and was targeted by various BJP MLAs for his alleged involvement in the election process.

It was Prashant Kishor who once trained the BJP members for similar kind of engagements and it had been instrumental for them to make inroads among the intellectuals which proved very useful for them.

However, they are trying to find the alternate of his strategies which were effective during his first test as a politician in PUSU polls.

BJP itself is following the same model of engagement with intellectuals and had been conducting the meeting with them on a regular basis which has helped the party in establishing its base among the educated and intellectual class where it was lacking before.
