Rahul Gandhi congratulates PM Modi, Smriti Irani; says “People are supreme, they have given their verdict”

With Bharatiya Janata Party bagging a victory bigger than ever in the 17th Lok Sabha Elections, the grand opposition party Congress’s chief Rahul Gandhi congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he respects what the people of the nation have chosen for themselves.

While addressing the media on May 23, Rahul Gandhi said, “People are supreme and today they have given their verdict. I congratulate BJP and Narendra Modi for the win.”

Gandhi, who contested from the Amethi seat against BJP’s Smriti Irani, also congratulated her for her historic win.

“Smriti Irani has won Amethi seat. I hope she fulfills the aspirations of the people of Amethi,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Consoling his party members who could not perform well in the elections, Rahul said that, “Those who have lost, should not worry or lose their confidence. Together we will fight for our ideology.”

Election Commission of India is expected to release the results of Lok Sabha Elections today. The counting of votes is underway.
