RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav may get bail due to coronavirus

Coronavirus cases have increased at a rapid pace in Jharkhand. In view of this, a lot of speculations have been doing rounds that former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, lodged in Hotwar Jail in Ranchi, can get a big relief and can come out of jail.

The Jharkhand government is considering granting Lalu Prasad Yadav bail.

Lalu Prasad Yadav‘s wife and Bihar’s former CM Rabri Devi have pleaded to the Jharkhand govt to release him, He is in jail for his involvement in the fodder scam.

She also reiterates she will take this matter to now Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. She says all the other states have released prisoners except for Jharkhand.

In her statement to the media, she has also said, “if the Supreme Court has ordered the states on 17th of March to bail prisoners who have been locked in jail especially referring to old people, why is the state not providing bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav.”

On 6 January 2018, Lalu Prasad Yadav was termed three and a half years of prison by a special CBI court after finding him guilty of fodder scam. Lalu is presently 72 years old.

Congress party leader Kokab Qadri has also drawn attention to the fact that RJD chief is seeing the rapid deterioration of health and due to the spread of COVID-19, he should be taken in prison.
