The heroes of surgical strike in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in 2016 will not marching in the Republic Day Parade on the Rajpath this year. Chief of Staff Delhi Area Major General Rajesh Sahai has made it clear that the Para Commandos, who crossed the Line of Control in the aftermath of Uri terror attack, will not be present during the Republic Day Parade later this week.

“Para Commandos were there last year. This year the NSG Commandos are there. The Para Commandos may return next year,” Major General Rajesh Sahai said.

Para Commandos of the Special Forces 4 and 9 carried out the surgical strike across the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on September 29 last year. They had destroyed several terror launch pads in PoK. Over 20 jawans lost their lives in the terror attack. The para units of Special Forces 4 and 9, who carried out the surgical strike, were reportedly selected for the ‘unit citation’ from the Army Chief.

Earlier, it was reported that the heroes of the surgical strike would be awarded on this Republic Day. As per earlier reports, the Para Commandos were to be honoured for avenging the martyrs of Uri terror attack.
