Suspected serial killer who killed 10 in 6 months arrested in Kumbh mela

In a major breakthrough, Prayagraj police arrested a suspected serial killer from Kumbh Mela on Friday who is accused of killing 10 persons in 6 months in different areas of the Uttar Pradesh city.

The arrest sent shockwaves across the Mela, 38-year-old accused identified as Kaluwa Patel alias Sai Baba was planning to murder two seers in during the religious congregation.

According to the reports, the accused would cover the face of his victims with their own garments, stalk victims and attack the victim during their sleep in the night. He would attack them with an axe and slit their throats.

As per the reports, Patel told police officials that his target were the people who made fun of him over his rumpled look.

Officials further told that the UP police has been on the lookout for a serial killer for quite some time now. “We initiated operation ‘serial killer’ about six months ago. A joint team of city police deployed at the Kumbh venue on Friday came across Patel who was seen carrying an axe. When questioned, Patel told that he had murdered 10 people in the last year. He also said that the most of people he killed  were labourers sleeping on the pavements.”

The police recovered two sharp-edged weapons including an axe and a wooden bat used in the crimes from Kaluwa’s possession.
