UP: Following water shortage in Agra, 50 people to auction themselves on Republic Day

Since Republic Day is round the corner, nation is gearing up for the celebrations. However, some parts of the Uttar Pradesh are waiting for the day to arrive so that they can voice their grieves to the nation.

It’s been reported that Agra has continued to witness shortage of drinking water. Following water scarcity, a group of 50 youths from Maho area in Hathras district has decided to auction themselves to mark a silent protest on Republic Day against concerning government authorities that have neglected the severe problem of water shortage in the locality. Read here

ICC Awards 2018: Virat Kohli and Smriti Mandhana dominates, check full list

The International Cricket Council announced the list of award winners for 2018 among men and women cricketers on January 22. ICC also announced the ODI and Test teams of the year 2018.

Out of a total of 13 awards, Indian cricketers dominated the awards by winning 7 out of them. Indian men’s skipper Virat Kohli creates history by winning all of the three most prestigious awards of the year. In 2018, Virat Kohli played 37 matches, 47 innings in which he scored 2,735 runs at an average of 68.37 with the help of 11 centuries, 9 fifties. Read here

2019 Oscar nominations: Complete list of nominees

Oscar nominations for the 91st annual Academy Awards were announced Tuesday morning from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif. To reveal the nominees in 24 categories, Academy president John Bailey was joined by “The Big Sick” actor Kumail Nanjiani and “Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross. Read here

Uncles’s Property Row: Dehradun police denies help to Amrita Singh, actress to fight battle in court

Over the weekend, Bollywood actress Amrita Singh with her daughter Sara Ali Khan approached Dehradun police stating that the Clement Town property be protected from a land mafia and also put up a board claiming that the land belongs to them.

Amrita’s maternal uncle Madhusudan Bimbet lived in Dehradun’s disputed property as the suit over the title is pending in court. On Saturday he died of cancer. Amrita came to Doon with Sara Khan, cremated her maternal uncle’s body and then both allegedly entered the bungalow.

However, reports suggest that Amrita will take the legal course and fight the battle in court with aunt Tahira Bimbat by her side since the Uttarakhand police have refused to interfere in the matter. Read here

Bikini mountaineer Gigi Wu freezes to death on a trek to Taiwan

A mountaineer known worldwide for climbing peaks in bikini froze to death while her trek to Batongguan Historic Trail in Yushan National Park, Taiwan.

According to the reports, Wo fell down into a 30m gorge in Taiwan. Following her fall, she used a satellite phone on January 19 to call for assistance. She indicated she was in distress and unable to move after the fall but poor weather conditions hindered her rescue.

In the message, the 36-year-old said she’d fallen more than 20m (65ft) down a ravine in the park -she said she was trapped at the bottom and was completely unable to move due to being seriously injured from the fall. Read here
