Tripura: Man mob-lynched for trying to steal cattle in village

In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly mob lynched in a village on suspicion over stealing cattle in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Budhdhiram Tripura (38) and he was a tribal.

The police station in charge of the village said that the villagers had spotted one person who was allegedly trying to steal cattle from a house. They caught hold of him and beat him up severely. He also said that they rescued the person who later died to his injuries in the hospital.

The man’s body was handed over to his family after the autopsy was held.

This incident comes days after a 24-year-old youth died after he was thrashed by some locals in a village in Malda district.

The youth’s family has alleged that he was hit with iron rods, a video of the attack went online and the attackers were heard asking him “How many bikes have you stolen? “After he remained silent, he was thrashed again. He was taken to the primary health center and later shifted to the hospital for brain surgery but he died 48 hours after he was thrashed.
