UP: Russian national slaps man for greeting him with Ram Ram, gets stabbed in retaliation

A 40-year-old Russian national on tour of India was stabbed by a man after he slapped the accused for greeting with ‘Ram Ram’.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning in Mathura when Dev Vatra, the Latvian national, locally known as Krishnakant, was offering prayers at Khajoor ghat in Radhakund.

Another devotee, Rishi Kumar,  who was also offering prayers there, addressed the pilgrim with a “Ram Ram”, to which he did not get a response. The foreign citizen got annoyed and slapped the accused. Angered by this, the young man attacked him with a knife.

The injured one was immidieately taken to the nearby hospital where doctors administered stitches on his throat and admitted him. According to doctors, the cut was not deep and the victim’s condition is stable.

As per the reports, an FIR has been registered under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) against Rishi Kumar on a complaint filed by Dev. Legal action will be taken against the attacker identified as 28-year-old Rishi. The inquiry did not throw up any other reason for the attack. Information is being sought about his general behaviour as well.
